Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute is honouring their graduating class with a drive-in ceremony for the class of 2021.

MBCI is celebrating the students on Monday, June 28, 2021.

"It's really exciting, I'm looking forward to that. I'm just trying to be calm but getting a little more nervous every day," says Cam Olafson.

Olafson is the valedictorian for Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute (MBCI).

"I love public speaking but it can still be a little nerve-wracking, you know, talking to a couple hundred people."

Olafson is preparing his speech and hoping to have it memorized by the time the special day comes around.

"I hope they remember highlights of some of our years together. I've been there since middle school, grade 6. I'm trying to reflect back but also give some reassurance that going off into the world is scary but I know all of them can do it because I know how strong all of them are," he says.

What's next

Olafson plans to work during the summer before he returns to class.

"After summer, I'm going to the U of M to the Aspers School of Business. I've always been back and forth between science and math and business but I've found my passion throughout the last year here."

He's considering becoming an actuary or an accountant in the future.
