A Winnipeg woman is recovering in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the middle of the day on Friday.

The Winnipeg Police Service says in a release that emergency crews were called around 3 p.m. to Marion Street and Archibald Street for a report of a hit and run, after a passerby observed an injured pedestrian on the ground.

The pedestrian, a female in her 40s, was transported to a hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

The intersection was closed as the Traffic Collision Investigation Section conducted an examination of the scene, and the roads later re-opened just after 10:15 p.m.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Division. Anyone with information regarding the matter or that may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-7085.
