The Winnipeg Police Service is asking for assistance in locating a suspect after a 73-year-old woman was attacked in her own home and robbed of her vehicle.

Police say that the senior was in the backyard of her St. Boniface home Monday afternoon when she was approached by a woman. The suspect convinced the victim to allow her into the house.

Police allege that once inside the suspect attacked the victim with a weapon. The suspect then stole the victim’s purse and fled in the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition where she was treated for injuries to her upper-body.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying a suspect and locating the victim’s stolen vehicle. The suspect is described as a Caucasian female in appearance, 30 to 40 years old, 5’2” in height, 100 lbs in weight and has a slim build with blonde medium-length hair that was tied up. She was wearing a grey tank top, dark-coloured jeans with rips in the knees and was carrying a black shoulder bag.

The victim’s stolen vehicle, which is still outstanding, is a beige 2005 Dodge Caravan with Manitoba licence plate AVU951. There may be denting on a passenger door and rust along the bottom of both sides of the vehicle.
