The zoo is a great way to get outside during the winter months, but families will not be able to go for an entire week this January.

The Assiniboine Park Zoo continues to expand and improve its experience yearly. In January 2018, that improvement will require the Zoo to close for a week.

From Monday, January 15 until Sunday, January 21, 2018, Assiniboine Park Zoo will be closed to the public. Major maintenance, deep cleaning, and building refreshes will be taking place. It will be opened on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.

"The closure will allow us to undertake a variety of maintenance projects in an efficient and timely manner without impacting the visitor experience," said Archie Pronger, APC Head, Facilities & Capitol Projects, in a release. Pronger says they hope to have most of the work done prior to their busy season in spring and summer.

When families are welcomed back on January 22, they can expect freshly painted buildings, re-finished flooring, and spotless exhibits and public buildings.
