Brandon RCMP says a teen's mom picked him up after a turbulent evening involving the police.

At 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday on the TransCanada Highway, near Highway 5, RCMP offices noticed an eastbound vehicle travelling at 167 km/h, 67 kilometres faster than the posted speed limit.

The officers then turned on their emergency lights and indicated they were pulling the vehicle over for a traffic stop. The super speeder then attempted to turn right onto Highway 5, but immediately lost control.

"When a police vehicle has its emergency lights activated to pull you over, you should immediately engage your right turn signal to indicate your intention to pull over to the side of the road," RCMP Manitoba says. "If a police officer activates lights and the siren, you are required to pull over to the side of the road immediately, as far to the right as possible."

Driving across the highway, the vehicle drove into an east side ditch. The vehicle successfully drove out of the ditch and then attempted to go onto a south service road.

Driving over the intended target, the vehicle then entered a south ditch and immediately crashed into a marked utility box. The sedan's rear bumper trailed behind.

The 17-year-old driver and two adolescent passengers exited the vehicle. The 17-year-old had minor injuries and the passengers were uninjured. All were cleared by medical personnel.

The driver's license is now suspended due to being issued a Serious Offence Notice and was given a $927 ticket.

The teen's mom picked him up at the scene.
