Police in Ontario are investigating after two churches caught fire on Sunday.

On Sunday morning after midnight, fire crews were called to South Caradoc United Church in Strathroy-Caradoc. Ontario Provincial Police says the police service in the area is investigating the South Caradoc fire.

At 6:17 a.m., St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Alliston, Ontario was reported as being on fire. The church lost its roof in the fire. Its Christian Healing House is attached to the church.

The South Caradoc United Church and St. Andrew's Anglican Church is a seven-kilometre drive from each other.

The fires are being investigated by local authorities and fire crews. The OPP says it is too soon to say of the two fires are connected, but are investigating all leads.

The Diocese of Huron which oversees St. Andrew's Anglican Church released a statement on Monday.

"The entire Huron family stands by St. Andrew’s parishioners and will support them in their efforts to continue their journey as a church even after the loss of their building. We are grateful that they will have the on-going compassion and care of their long-time priest, the Reverend Canon Gaye Whippey in this time of grief," the Diocese of Huron says in a statement.
