For the first time in almost three decades, Winnipeg's baseball team is getting a new look.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes played their first game as part of the Northern League in 1994, using their classic look for the next several decades. On Tuesday, the team is announcing a change.

"Our previous mark has served us well, uniting our history and milestones," the team says in a statement. "Through moving ballparks, changing leagues, winning seasons and pandemic solitude, change has been the heart of our club; there has never been a better time to move forward."

This new logo will kick off the 2022 season. Winnipeg Goldeyes says the new logo will bring them into a new chapter, representing the spirit of the baseball club and Winnipeg.

The new logo uses white and grey colourings, set on a "heritage red" background. The logo is filled with symbolism, including the imagery of the connecting Red and Assiniboine rivers near the stadium. The fish remains, but much more simplified and with a gold eye.
