The vigil began just after 7:30 p.m., with organizer Patrick Allard opening the event by telling attendees, “Feels like a lot of love is in the air.” Allard ran as an independent candidate in the 2023 Manitoba provincial election and was an outspoken critic of COVID-19 lockdowns and vaccine mandates. "I became a Christian when I was 14 and about a year later, some MAF pilots came to our church and shared about their ministry," says Dominic Villeneuve, an MAF pilot from Kamloops, B.C. "This was the first time I heard of this kind of work. The Lord got a hold of my heart and said, 'This is what you're going to do. This is your calling.'"
