Police dog leads RCMP to $40,000 cocaine seizure from Winnipeg man
A 26-year-old from Winnipeg has been charged after over 200 grams of cocaine was found in his vehicle in Wanless. At approximately 1:30 p.m. on August 20, the Pas RCMP received a report of suspicious activity in Wanless. A vehicle was observed in the community, going from place to place, that did not appear familiar. The vehicle was seen leaving a local business and officers initiated a traffic stop on Highway 10 N, just outside the community. There were four individuals inside the vehicle. The driver, a 26-year-old male from Winnipeg, along with a 21-year-old male from Quebec were arrested on the scene for having outstanding warrants out for their arrest. The other passengers were released. The assistance of Police Service Dog, Phlex, and his handler was asked for where they walked around the vehicle. Phlex confirmed that ther were drugs inside the vehicle. When officers searched, over 200 grams of cocaine was found with an estimated street value of $40,000. The driver and 21-year-old passenger have been charged with Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and they have been remanded into custody. The Pas RCMP continue to investigate.
